30: A Call To Action!
This is not so much a confession, as a call to action, which is a good topic for artistic expression, I think. COVID-19 has revealed the gaping holes in our so-called "social safety net" and the many fault lines in the way our society is structured.
When the crisis subsides (and even before it subsides), we need to make big changes - in our priorities, our ways of operating, our attitudes. Everyone has been affected by this situation, but the crisis exacerbates the stress, misery, frustration and injustice in the lives of people that are sick, or poor, or homeless, or incarcerated or struggling in whatever way.
We can start with funding whatever is needed in the health care system, and a federal universal/basic income, accompanied by special supports for people with extra needs. We must have a just recovery and a whole new society from this crisis.
