Artist Statement

Duntroon, ON is a piece that revisits a hobby that may be lost to COVID in 2020. Cross country skiing can be as scenic as it is competitive, as easy-going as you please. Like hiking, it allows the participant to... marvel the ways in which a blanket of snow transforms the Canadian landscape.

The promotion of Canada's natural beauty was the core intent of the Group of Seven. I imitate Lawren Harris' style in rendering this memory from my time cross country skiing in Duntroon, ON.
