Artist Statement
It's been awhile since I've played with form. I mean, it's been awhile since I've written poetry. I was inspired by the difficulty we... are having right now as a society identifying and defining our emotions. Everything can feel a little jumbled as we bravely move through our various anxieties and embrace the present. I wanted to echo that jumbled mind looking for structure and hope.
I also wanted to accompany this poem with a reading: both for accessibility, and also to try myself, as the poet, to define and shape the thoughts as I heard them. Scrambled in my own brain; inspired by this beautiful couple's new found partnership.
