Artist Statement

It Could Be Me

Yes, even in Canada.

Does this one hit different?

This murder that ain’t even happened (yet?).

You don’t have to wait till it’s someone you know to be active in your activism.

You can’t....

There’s not enough time.

If you give a shit about me, if this image makes you uncomfortable, refer back to it whenever you’re on the fence about speaking up, attending a protest, contacting your local government officials, donating to #blacklivesmatter or expressing your discomfort on your social media platforms. If you celebrate your friendships and personal achievements on instgram, is that not a reflection of what you value? Who you value?

Feel free to share this image.

I am Breonna Taylor.

This is my memorial Instagram post. For the flash in the pan that is my death. The peak value my existence can achieve in this economy. Your 15 minutes of shame, and then... it’s #Hotgirlsummer all over again.
