Artist Statement
Turquoise waters, large boulders and breezy skies calm the mind, grounds and take us back to being whole. The restrictions of not being allowed to vacation or travel to faraway destinations did not affect me because with age I’ve learned... that you don’t have to travel miles to find beauty. Beauty is right outside your door
My friends, family and society have always stressed the importance of international travel, foreign experiences and exotic getaways. For some reason, I found myself choosing the opposite and would make it a routine to explore the spaces around me. Spaces full of beautiful natural scenes in Ontario that tourists and newcomers would travel to far and wide to see.
Many times we get wrapped up in FOMO (fear of missing out) and like to think the grass is always greener but I beg to differ. I believe that beauty exists all around us if we open our eyes and make time to see it. Beauty is here locally and within close proximity. Why do we feel the need to have to travel miles and miles to see beauty when it's right here within our own country, our own provinces, towns and cities? Yes, there are beautiful spaces external to our homelands but that does’t mean our own local spaces lack beauty. There's so much we haven't seen and lots to explore within our own homelands.
